The Black Taj : An incomplete memory of the Mughal Empire

On a travel journey to Agra with my folks was to visit Taj Mahal and my second trip. This trip had its own experience, as we got explore secrets behind Taj Mahal. In this post I am going to share a myth, which says about White Taj Mahal and Black Taj Mahal Story, during the expedition.

Mumtaz Mahal was ShahJahan’s third wife who secured a last breath promise from him. Promise was that he would construct an astonishing monument in her memory. Keeping the promise, white Taj Mahal was constructed and was dedicated to his wife, also known as a symbol of eternal love. After erection of Taj Mahal, it is believed that, ShahJahan wanted to build another Taj Mahal, across the other side of river Yamuna, with black marble. According to his proposal, a bridge was to be constructed and joining two, the white Taj Mahal Mumtaz’s Tomb and black Taj mahal Shahjahan’s Tomb.

Shahjahan began to build his Tomb, thatis black taj mahal, but the war with his son Aurangzeb ruined everything. According to Aurangzeb, Shahjahan his father was in subconscious state of mind and in love with Mumtaz and was wasting a lot of money unnecessarily in constructing monuments. Aurangzeb winning the throne from his father, he jailed Shahjahan in the Agra fort, where he was toppled to death. The black taj mahal plan was interrupted and Aurangzeb holding the Throne didn’t complete it.

Serveral times, I have questioned myself that “Why Shahjahan wanted to Construct another Taj mahal ?” and Why A black color Taj Mahal ? Was he willing to convey some message to the world, like to differentiate between Heaven and Hell. Or may be like a Road to Heaven. But all these question will remain unanswered, and will flow with rumors. I wonder if black Taj Mahal would have been constructed, things could have been really different and would have revealed hidden myths.

I don’t claim that all above is true, but this was my perception after visiting Taj Mahal. If you want to share your views with us or anything relevant to Taj Mahal, then you can post a comment below, it will be appreciated.
